The Mountain and the Machine

Today I've got to tackle a last-minute sewing project. I've been planning for a while to make pajama pants for Dicie for her birthday. Now her birthday is just 3 days away and I can't sew anytime when she is around! So that means I have about 4 hours this afternoon and whatever time I can get in this evening after bedtime. I finally purchased the fabric yesterday evening and got it washed and dried. The moment Dicie gets on the bus and I get the other 2 munchkins in bed, I'll be rushing to cut out the fabric and get some pants sewn up!

This is just an example of the ever-increasing mountain of sewing projects that is filling my sewing room. I have a list a mile long! A few of the projects, like the pajamas, need to be done for other people. The pressure from that is just enough motivation that I will surely get those done sooner than later. But there are other projects that I wonder when I will ever finish! I walk into my sewing room and the mountain of mess scares me so much that I walk out quickly and keep the door shut. I guess the final deadline for all projects is the birth of this next baby. My sewing room is being sacrified to become the baby's room so I will be forced to clean it out extensively by that point. YIKES!

So here, on my blog, I'll make the goal to finish up some of those projects. Let's say, 2 a month? Can I do it? I think so. This month, seeing as it is practically over, it will just be the pajamas. Next month I'll tailor those pants for my friend Stephanie, and make the diaper bag for my cousin Amy. Ooooh - and I bet I could get Dicie's bedspread bound during General Conference! Yeee Haaw!
