Up to Date

As I mentioned before, I have not been a consistent journal-writer for many years. Whenever I pull my journal out and read through it, the entries go something like this: "May 21st, 2005, It's been quite a while since my last entry. Actually it's been over a year. We had a baby last March, oh, and I'm pregnant again and due in December . . . ." It seems like each journal entry would consist of paragraph upon paragraph of catching up before I ever got the chance to write anything current! Now, again, I find myself with that unavoidable feeling that I must "catch up" before I can write anything new! So here we go:

We live in Boise, Idaho. We have lived in this house for about 4 1/2 years and intend to be here for quite a while still! Brett works at Micron Technology as an electrical engineer in the quality assurance department. Basically he's a problem solver and beyond that, don't ask me for too many details because the ins-and-outs of his highly technical job are still quite a mystery to me! All I know is that he is a very dedicated person, to the company, to his boss, to his co-workers, and that he works hard and does a very good job. He is a wonderful provider for our family and does a great job of balancing his time with work, family, church, and his hobbies. Brett is currently serving as the 1st counselor in Young Men's in our ward. He has served there for over 2 years now. He only has 2 teachers in his quorum, having just lost one, but that has never stopped him from doing his best for those boys. He has served long enough that the 2 active boys have spent their entire time as teachers with Brett as their leader. Just last week the older boy, having just turned 16, blessed the sacrament for the first time and I was moved to tears as I thought about how far he'd come and how much I felt Brett had done for him. I hope Brett doesn't blush too much when he reads all this! Can you tell that I just love my guy a lot!?

I am happily busy as a full-time Mommy and homemaker. I have started to treat both of those titles with more respect as they have become more complicated and challenging over the years! I absolutely love what I do though. I probably need to remind myself of that more often, but I really do love it! As a kid my greatest aspiration was always to be and do exactly what I am right now. I am so lucky and so very blessed! In our ward, I serve as the 1st Counselor in the Primary. I have served there for about 2 1/2 years now. I love Primary and have grown so much through this calling! I have had the opportunity to write and take charge of 3 primary programs over this time, our next one being this Sunday, and I have enjoyed that challenge. I have also enjoyed working with the nursery program in our ward. We currently have 5 nurseries - can you believe that?! It is a lot of fun though. I have loved serving with the other sisters in Primary and have made some great friends. As far as other details about me - I am currently expecting our 4th baby, due April 6th, 2008! I am excited for this new addition to our family.

Dicie is 5 years old, though in a week and a half (you'll have to ask her for the exact number of days, hours, and minutes) it will be her 6th birthday! She is very excited for this event and has a list a mile long of gifts she wants. This fall Dicie started Kindergarten! It has been a great experience for her so far. She loves it. She's making good friends and loves to ride the bus to and from school. She hit a serious growth spurt this summer and grew several inches. She also lost three of her front teeth this summer. She loves to draw, has a very vivid imagination, and is most known for her singing voice - she is an opera star in training, vibrato and all! I am sure we are soon to see our first broken glass as a result of one of her high-pitched trills!

Dallin is 3 1/2 yrs. old. He is Mr. Personality! He is so happy and good-natured and has a smile that will charm anyone. I think he is a lot like Brett, from what I know of Brett as a child. Dallin loves to play with trains and cars and has become more and more of a "boy" lately, despite the fact that he still likes to dress up in frilly dresses with his sisters. He likes to be a super hero and has a sound effect for every move he makes. He has recently taken to running full tilt around the house, back and forth, up and down, to expend all his pent-up boy energy. I am starting to wonder how we'll survive the winter shut up in the house! Just yesterday we were waiting for Dicie at the bus stop and Dallin started running circles around me until I was so dizzy I had to make him stop! We love him dearly and secretly hope we'll be adding another boy to the family.

Mia is actually named Amelia. We named her after the girl on the movie Princess Diaries! I love the nickname Mia and it suits her well. Mia is my little mischief-maker. She always seems to have something sneaky going on, and you can tell by the naughty little gleam in her eye. She is entirely adorable and lovable though! She absolutely idolizes her two older siblings, Dallin in particular (which explains her love of cars, making sound effects, and generally imitating everything he does). She has been the earliest to talk of the three and I am sure that is because she wants so badly to be able to do everything the older two can! She has been getting into everything lately so I've had to put the gate up again to keep her downstairs out of trouble. She is very smart and also very polite - she always says thank you when you give her something, and when she's told to tell someone sorry (which is happening more and more often I'm afraid) she has a sweet way of saying "sorry" and patting them on the head. Overall she's a sweet and outgoing little girl!
After that lengthy novel, I think we're pretty up to date! Overall, our family is doing very well. I feel that we have been richly blessed over the years and I am so thankful for my hubby and my munchkins!
