I have to say, it has taken a great deal of self control to have gone this long without posting pictures of Jameson. "Hello, my name is Angela Dodds. It has been 22 days since my last baby-photo post." What can I say? I just happen to have the cutest baby ever and I can't help but post pictures of him. Today we will be examining the comfort thing. I don't know if it's nature or nurture, but my kids have all had two attachments that they can't do without. First, it's their blankeys:Look at him just clutching that thing! He loves to have his blankey where he can grab onto it. The second thing my kids can't seem to do without is sucking their thumbs, and Jameson has just mastered it this past week:
It is remarkable to me that all four of my kids have followed these same patterns of comfort! Now that I think about it though, I shouldn't be so surprised. I think I've trained them all to be this way. As children, all of my siblings and I had special blankeys. They were the same kind that my kids have now, soft thermal blankeys with the silky binding. So naturally I am drawn to that same type of blanket. It also helps that my mom, being the excellent grammy that she is, found a bunch of those blankets in a variety of colors and bought 40 of them!
The thumb-sucking thing is a mystery to me though. I have to admit that I love having thumb-suckers because they soothe themselves so well. My kids all started sucking at different ages. Dicie began at about 3 months, the same as Jameson. Dallin started sucking his thumb out of desperation when we took his binkey away at 6 months, but Mia was sucking hers the day she was born and hasn't stopped! Luckily, Dicie quit her thumb addiction when she was about 4 1/2 and it was easy. The rest are all still sucking and I have a feeling it will be a long road getting any of them to quit. I think we'll probably have to start our own 12 step program. TSA, Thumb Suckers Anonymous. "Hello, my name is Dallin Dodds. It has been 2 days since I last sucked my thumb. My Mom says I have to stop or I can't go to the Prom . . ."
Here's a look at all our cute little thumb-sucking, blankey-loving babies:

I am kinda jealous because I hate chasing pacifiers around so much. Oh well, I won't be jealous when it comes time for you to get them to quit! Hey, I want a full on picture of Jameson in that outfit! It will give you an excuse to post another picture of him.... ( :
SOOOOOOOOOO cute! It was so fun to hang out with you guys last weekend! I can't wait to hang out more before the end of the summer!
Oh the memories of all of our thumb suckers!! I wished I could say I viewed it as a great means of comfort like you do but when your kids struggle to quit by the time they are near to getting married (haha, ok so it wasn't that long but it took quit a long time and many creative ways to try to assist them!) I have since become an advocate of the pacificer. At least you can lose that at a reasonable age and don't have to contemplate amputation!!! Oh well, at least they do all eventually grow out of it despite how painful it can become.
