We had a nice 4-day weekend over Labor Day. We traveled down to Utah and managed to squeeze in time with all of our family there! On Saturday we went up Provo canyon and had lunch at Aspen Grove with various Dodds siblings and cousins. My sister-in-law, Kim, and I are both pregnant and due on the same day! We managed to get a belly picture together, and it turns out we're pretty cute! It's been fun to share our pregnancies this time around.
After Aspen Grove some of us continued on up the Alpine Loop and made our way around to Tibble Fork Reservoir, a tiny little "lake" where there are no motorized boats. We got all our kids and gear unloaded and began to set up on the beach when it started to rain a little and the wind picked up! The kids all got cold and they hid in the tree next to our spot to get out of the wind.

At that point, a lot of the other people on the beach, including Uncle Craig and Aunt Emily, packed up their stuff and left, but we toughed it out and, true to Utah weather, not 15 minutes later the sun came out and it warmed up and was beautiful for the rest of our time there!
The highlight of the day was going for rides on the paddle boat. My parents have had this thing for years, but haven't used it in a while. It was so fun to bring it and the kids just loved it! There's nothing like self-propelled watercraft to make a little kid's eyes gleam! Of course, Daddies love it too - nothing like a good workout now and then...

Jameson went for several rides on the paddleboat, but he had just as much fun hangin' out on the beach with Mom. He found out very quickly that the wet lake-mud was slimy and slippery and after one good fall in it, he'd had enough. He spent the rest of the time sitting in the big-kid chairs and digging in the dirt.

Good times!

I promise, Mia had fun too...
