Before summer is over, I am determined to catch up on the blog!
Here's a shot of our family at the St. George temple during our Utah trip:
We also spent a day at Lagoon with our BFF's the Medinas! We had so much fun! The kids just LOVE seeing each other and they had a blast going on as many rides as they could. My personal favorite was Wicked! It was well worth the resulting nausea! We had so much fun that we completely forgot to take a good group photo!
Brett spent a wild weekend with the guys dirt-biking:
The kids and I spent one of the most relaxing, fun days ever at Sandy Point Beach. There was just something about sitting under a shade canopy with the baby sleeping on a towel and the big kids playing in the sand. We had met up with some friends, but ended up staying long after they all left. It was great! And we only lost Mia once!
We attended Susan & Andrew's beautiful wedding in Twin Falls (more on that later!)
The day after we got home from a crazy wedding week, we got a call from the Stake President asking to meet with us. Dun dun dun! Brett was called to be a counselor in our bishopric. Brett was ordained a High Priest (inexplicably making him even more attractive by the way) and we are starting to realize that we are, in fact, grown-ups. We're not in Kansas anymore Toto! Let the CRAZY begin!!
The next day I headed off for 3 fantastic days at girl's camp! My 18-year-old sister Melinda flew up to stay with my 5 offspring and it was truly a baptism by fire for her, hee hee hee. Camp was great! I just loved hanging out with those 9 incredible girls, being a little silly with the other leaders, sitting around the camp fire, singing songs, and having a spiritual high every day. Girl's camp is the best - I'd love to go every year!
We headed back to Utah, literally the next day, for my sister, Katrina's, baptism. (The beginning of August was a complete BLUR by the way!!) Brett went canyoneering with his brothers/brother-in-law, but got rained out, though luckily they weren't in the narrow slot canyon when the rain hit!
My parents look pretty fantastic don't they? Especially considering that they have 10 children ranging from age 30 to age 8! I just love these shots of them with their "baby!"
The rest of August has gone by pretty fast! Avery turned 10 months on Friday and to celebrate she started doing this:
As Mia would say, "Bad Bubba, bad Bubba!" She'll be walking any time now and I am shaking in my boots. Good thing she's so stinkin' adorable...
School is starting tomorrow and I admit I am looking forward to it! The schedule will be more demanding, but the structure will be welcome. It is a time for new beginnings! Hopefully I can get some things back on track and find some sanity again!

Brett seems like he has the "bishopric" aura. Watch out. It'll be bishop next! I can't believe your little sister is eight. She's so cute!
Oh no- she can't walk YET! The little stinker....
Yeah, you guys had one crazy summer's end. I couldn't have done all that without going NUTS! Do you have any pictures you could share of say the family at the baptism, etc. ?
I have to admit, I've been waiting for the "Avery's Walking" post! She is such a little go-getter, there's going to be no stopping her. Watch out- she's gonna keep you on your toes! You are right- she is completely adorable!
You guys really have had a whirl-wind summer, haven't you! Hopefully the structure of school schedules will calm things down a bit. I'm looking forward to having something academically challenging for Aspen. Although since she is already reading at a 2nd or 3rd grade level, I'm not sure what her teachers are going to be able to teach her.
Can't wait to see you guys again in October!
Kim
