On January 18th we had a mega snow storm. Well, mega for Boise anyway. Of course the one day out of the entire winter that we have any snow worth writing home about, I have 8:30am dentist appointments for all the kids. It took us 15 minutes just to get to the church building (it usually takes maybe 2 minutes) because the traffic was literally crawling, so we bagged the whole thing, turned around and drove home. I nearly slid off the road into a big ditch on the way home. It freaked me out so much that I kept the kids home from school, not wanting them to get on the school bus. So my kids stayed home and had a snow day, and I'm glad they did because the snow was basically all melted by the end of the next day and it's probably all we'll get this year!
Kids crack me up - I wouldn't think eating snow would be the best way to stay warm...
It probably took nearly an hour to round up all the snow gear for everyone and get them all outfitted. I'm pretty proud of my collection of gear though. I've tried to buy gender-neutral boots and snow pants in all the even sizes. It's kind of like on "Yours, Mine, and Ours" when the kids all run to the closet for rain boots and there's a pair for everyone. (What??! You haven't seen that movie? 18 kids? Lucille Ball? I'm afraid we can't be friends anymore...) This year Dallin was the odd man out and had to choose between a black pair that was too small or purple pair that was too big. I'm sure you can guess what he chose.

I'm glad they got one day to play in the snow anyway! Smart to have plenty of gear in all sizes and have it be neutral. The snow stuff I have is now going to waste. Bleh.
