Out With the Old, In With the New

After MUCH deliberation, we finally decided to go against the grain and buy a bigger, gas-guzzling, road-hogging vehicle!! All of the earth-conscious, green-loving, alternative-fuel car owners out there, we thank you. It is because of you that there is a wonderful surplus of used M.A.V.'s (Mormon Assault Vehicles) out there, making it possible for us to purchase this beauty for an unbelievably low price!

We decided to buy a new car because while our Explorer can fit our family with room for one more, we cannot fit anything else! I would find myself in the parking lot at Costco with a cart load of groceries, panicking because it wouldn't all fit in the car. To make it home with everything I would have to pack things in around the kids car seats, on their laps, and even then I came close to strapping the milk to the ski rack on top. It was ridiculous. And our camping trip this last weekend was the last straw. We had to have Dicie ride with the Medinas so we could put down the back seat. Even with one child pawned off, we had the car packed to the hilt. We could barely move I tell you!

So we've been perusing the internet for good deals on Suburbans, and found them in spades! This one was the perfect find. It is a 2004 Yukon XL with less that 35,000 miles. And get this - it has a bench seat in front that seats 3 across, making this baby a 9-seater! We'll be able to fit 7 (gasp!) kids in this car. How's that for weird - while everyone else in America is having 1.86 children, trading in their SUV's for low-gas-mileage sedans, and filling up with alternative fuel, we're now gluttonously gorging ourselves at the pump, getting rid of our sedan, and having - well let's just say more than 1.86 children. Yep, we're living the good life. And the really sick part is - we're loving it.

How exactly do you go about having 1.86 children anyway?

Whoah! That thing is a beast! How do you even park it? Does it fit in the garage even? It's sweet that it fits 9 though. Make Brett figure out how long it will take you to come out even- since you saved a lot on the car, but you have to spend a lot on gas. Ok, so maybe that sounds dumb, but I like figuring things like that out!

Nice! We are looking for a bigger car, too. Can't beat all that extra space in the gas guzzlers!!

Yay!! Welcome to the club (of pewter colored Suburban and Yukon owners) I swear that is the only color they make them in or at least they only color they sell to families in boise! You will LOVE it! The other day I told Aaron to get used to paying the gas bill because I don't think I could ever give up my Suburban!! I can't believe that you packed your family (minus a kid) and all your stuff for a camping trip in your Explorer! You did well, I am impressed!!

I also have to congratulate you on joining the Pewter SUV Club. What can I say, I LOVE our Yukon, and with all the fatal accidents Jim has responded to in the canyon this year alone, we are convinced that no matter how much more gas costs, it is worth it to be protected in an accident! From what he says, it's the little dinky cars that end up with more fatalities. ANYWAYS! Can't wait to see you guys at the wedding this week!!
